Beige

40 E. 4th street
New York, NY 10003

Located in a former gas station converted into a swanky restaurant, Beige has established itself as one of the hippest gay nights in New York. Attracting a beautiful crowd of members of the New York gay elite, and those aspiring to mingle with them, Beige is a very sexy and glamorous party, with more emphasis on posing and socializing rather than dancing. The music is a blend of retro-pop tracks and electro tunes which main purpose is to keep the go-go boys bumping and grinding - as the rest of the crowd is usually too busy flirting and looking fabulous to engage in some wild revelry.

The atmosphere of overwhelming fabulousness and the hipper-than-you crowd can be at the same time intensely exciting or vain and pretentious. Regardless, Beige is a fixture of the New York gay party scene and is definitely the place to be on Tuesdays, if only to check out the beautiful outdoor patio (covered in the winter) under a starry night, in the heart of the East Village.

For those who want to come early and have dinner, the food is pretty decent, albeit on the pricey side. At the bar, the drinks are not so expensive (last we checked, it was $9 for a cocktail).
