Stonewall
53 Christopher Street (at 7th Avenue)
New York, NY 10014
It is on this sacred site that modern gay activism was born in a summer night of 1969, on the day of Judy Garland's funeral, when a bunch of homos and trannies decided to stood up against police harassment, in what has come to be known as the Stonewall riots. There where these defining events took place lies the new Stonewall Inn, a charming watering hole off Sheridan Square.
Fully revamped sine this glorious era, and recently renovated, the Stonewall Inn is state of the art establishment. Yet it still retains a genuine Old-School vibe, making it a popular destination for gays of all generations who frequent Greenwich Village to stop for a drink.
