Men Are From Mars

1633 Broadway
New York, NY 10019

Men are from Mars is a monthly black gay party, which takes place most of the times at Mars 2112, near Times Square (although it sometimes happen at a different venue).

Mars 2112 is quite an interesting venue for a gay party, as it is originally a Mars-themed restaurant with a décor replicating the inside of a cave buried in some martian mountain. Stepping into the club feels like entering an ultra kitsch sci-fi movie set, complete with fake red-rock walls and reddish, moody lighting.

The experience gets even weirder when you find yourself surrounded by throngs of sculptural black men, dancing and carrying on to the throbbing sound of hip-hop and house music.

Organized by longtime party promoters Fred Pierce, Charles Jackson who team-up with numerous personalities from the black LGBT scene, Men are from Mars is a massive event, with two floors of music, live performances, and featuring sizzling exotic dancers.

This monthly party has quickly established itself as a prominent event on the national gay black party scene, drawing guys from all across the country for the occasion. The crowd reflects the wonderful diversity of the black gay community, bringing together homo-thugs and pier queens, ballroom children and grown and sexy men, with everything in-between.

The main dance floor is devoted to urban music (hip-hop, r&b), whereas the "crater room" is where house music is played.

The surreal décor, the hot and diverse crowd, the sexy go-go dancers and the pumping urban soundtrack make Mars 2112 a unique party and a great New York experience. True to the city’s inclusive mentality, everybody – Black, Latin, White and Asian - is welcomed to join in the fun.
