Sol

609 W 29th St.
New York, NY 10011

SOL is a nightclub located in the westernmost part of the infamous Chelsea Club Row (aka 28th street). The venue is a large, cavernous, church-like warehouse furnished with state of the art lighting and visual equipments with lasers, video projectors and rows of scan lights that create a quite eerie and haunting atmosphere.

Unfortunately, this club doesn’t host any regular worthwhile event and mostly features bottle service types of parties, as the name of their Friday nights "Bottles and Models" suggests it.

On occasion, some promoters have held one off underground events with varying success. It used to be home to Rob Fernandez' "Gypsy Tea" after-hours, and Junior Vasquez sometimes uses this space in last resort when nothing else is available.

Most notably, in what has become one of the most infamous night of 2007, Junior had to move his whole party which was going on full swing in Pacha to Sol because the former club was shutting down his gig to make room for their regular Sunday night hip-hop party. The disgruntled DJ then took the mic and asked his crowd to take the trek down 10th avenue to relocate to Sol in order continue the party. This Junior roadshow which took us to Sol turned out beautifully for his devoted followers who all managed to carry the vibe with them to the new location where Junior threw down one of his most memorable set of the year.

Junior also chose Sol to hold his traditional Gay Pride last dance, the ultimate part of Gay Pride weekend held on Monday morning, and the last stop for the die-hard clubbers looking to end the Pride celebrations with the most famous New York DJ.

Kicked out early (7 PM) from Pacha, Junior managed to turn this potentially disasterous situation into one of the most legendary nights of 2007 by taking his party to Sol where he served the beats into the wee hours of the Monday morning.
